ROUTES: IN AND AROUND ASHLAND
Bear Creek Trail to Medford. Two options here. Take an easy roll down a wonderful bike path to downtown Medford. Great spot for lunch and some shopping. One route is an easy out and back on the path. The other takes an alternate route back through town then vineyards and orchards with some rollers.
Ashland to Jacksonville. One of a couple routes that will take you to the historic town of Jacksonville. Great shopping and lunch options. This one heads out on the Greenway and then out west where there is one climb and a descent to Jacksonville. Some rolling hills on your way back to the Greenway.
This ride starts at Twin Creeks Park in Central Point (a 30 min drive from Ashland). Ride the Rogue Parkway and back by Table Rock. Grab coffee or lunch in Rogue River and taste some cheese and chocolates on your way through Central pint on the return.
Gold Hill Wimer Loop. A 50 mile ride from Gold Hill (a 30 min drive from Ashland) avoids the busy roads of the Rogue Valley with just one long, but gradual climb and descent with the majority of the ride on flat terrain with minor rollers. Enjoy the flatlands north of the Table Rocks to the narrow gorge of Evans Creek and the lush farmland between Wimer and Rogue River. Enjoy coffee or lunch in Rogue River. Covered bridge in Wimer. This is more remote route so bring lunch/snacks. Does go through the town of Rogue River on the return.
Rogue Jacksonville Metric. Another option for visiting Jacksonville, this ride follows the "classic" clockwise loop of the "Ride the Rogue" metric century but starting and ending in Jacksonville. Heads north to the Rogue River Parkway, into Grant's Pass and then back to Jacksonville after Applegate and the summit. Coffee stop options on the cue sheet. Eat lunch and shop in Jacksonville at the end (note, must drive to the start, about 20 mins).
Finally, not for the faint at heart, the infamous Ashland "Up and Down" - just over 50 miles but over 5000 ft in elevation.
